When it comes to keratin treatments the first question I always ask my guests is "What would you like the keratin treatment to do?" Do you want to maintain you hair texture or change it? These are important because Keratin treatments vary and yield different results.

My experience is some clients want straighter hair, while others want their hair to resist the summer humidity and maintain their natural texture. Either way, the ultimate benefit of a keratin is the hair is strengthened. This prevents and often times stops the breakage and damage from heat styling and over processing. 

Here I'll list a few of my favorite Keratin products. The brands, benefits and longevity vary but they are all great products in their own right!

Chi Enviro Smoothing Treatment offers a great line of products with variety. The one that I happily use on 4a, 4b and 4c hair is the Enviro American Smoothing Treatment Virgin and Resistant Hair formula. I will not straighten but it will allow your style to last longer between shampoos, resist the humidity, The smell is pleasant to work with and client's feel as though their hair is stronger the longer they can go before the initial washing. Lasts 10-12 weeks but proper aftercare using the Chi brand Smoothing shampoo and conditioner are recommended.

Brazilian Blowout is another great product that works for all hair textures. My experience is that it will soften curls and waves but not eliminate them. It can be customized to remove a lot of texture similar to a texturizer or relaxer but it is so much healthier for our hair. The Brazilian Blowout Original formula is one of the first keratin treatments available in the US. Most know it name because of it's consistent results and longevity. In cooler climates clients have seen the treatment last up to 6 months. This requires maintenance with their aftercare. Brazilian Blowout has a full selection of care and styling products. I personally love their deep conditioner.

Keratin Complex has broadened their selection to offer a vast selection of keratin treatments. The original express is what I'm most familiar with but I think it will be worth while to visit their line up. The original smoothing formula is a simple and mild treatment. It offers the same humidity resistant properties as others but it's much lighter. Your end result will be more of curl definition and style.
